Free Crochet Pattern Tutorial: Heart Applique

Today my husband & I are celebrating our 16th wedding anniversary so I thought it would be a great day to share my heart applique tutorial!

This is a larger applique because I have plans to use it on a blanket but you can easily adjust the size of the heart by switching to a different hook size. Pictured below are a few hearts created using various hook sizes.

Skill Level: Easy

Supplies:
Worsted Weight Yarn
Crochet Hook in choice size
Scissors
Tapestry Needle

Abbreviations (US Terms):
Ch - Chain
Dc - Double Crochet
Hdc - Half Double Crochet
Sc - Single Crochet
Sl st - Slip Stitch
Sp - Space
Tr - Treble Crochet

Important Notes:
-Joins are made with a sl st.
-These brackets [ ] with stitches listed between them indicate a group of stitches that all need to be worked in the same space.
-This pattern uses a magic circle, if you do not know how to make a magic circle you can watch my quick tutorial below or on youtube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64O9WVJucFA

Row 1: Magic circle, ch 1, 8 hdc in circle. Join. (8 hdc)
