Tree
Using H hook

Row 1: Ch 12, dc in 3rd ch from hook, dc in each across. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sl st in same st, [sl st, ch 2, dc] in next, dc in next 7. Ch 1, turn.

Stump

Row 2: Sc in same, sc in next. Ch1, turn.
Row 3: Sc in same, sc in next.

Join near the bottom right corner of the tree with desired garland color. Sl st across to the other side, repeat two more times to get to the top of the tree.
Fasten off.

Ornaments
Using G Hook

Magic circle, ch 1, 5 sc in circle, pull circle tight & join.
Fasten off.

Star
Using G Hook

Magic circle, ch 1, *hdc, sl st into circle.* Repeat *to* 4 more times.
Fasten off with out joining, pull circle tight. Tie the two loose ends together and tie onto tree. I also use the end to make an ornament hanger but you can attach a new piece of yarn when you are completely finished for hanging your tree as an ornament.

If you are using your tree as an ornament I suggest making a 2nd tree and sewing the two together after adding the ornaments and garland so that there is no need to sew in all those ends from the little ornaments.

Sew all the pieces in to place, using black yarn weave through the belt and use white to stitch on a little collar. After the pieces are sewn on your scarf it should look like the one shown below.

And the back that you will be hiding:

Fold brown section in half, it should fold easily since we only worked in the FLO.
Now stitch the sides of the scarf together, below is an explanation of how I sewed it together. Be sure when you sew across the top that you don’t let the eyelashes show through the back of the scarf, they should be covered. Also, when you sew across the scarf take care to pay attention to the front and make sure your stitches are hidden.

Do the same on the other side and you are all done!

Now you can add a pom pom to the top of the hat!  I use my hand to make my pom poms and wrap the yarn around and around my hand (about 100 times). Lay out a long piece of yarn (approx. 18"). Carefully slip the yarn off of your hand and lay on top of the long piece of yarn, tie a knot twice. Using your tapestry needle; sew the long yarn ends in and out of the pom pom over and over. Add a dab or two of fabric glue to the center. Let dry. Cut through all your loops and trim up your pom pom. Sew to the top of hat.
